Connecting to Homeaway/VRBO with AdvanceCM

Homeaway/VRBO integrates with AdvanceCM via a standard iCal connection. For two-way calendar synchronization, you’ll need to both export your AdvanceCM calendar to Homeaway, and import the Homeaway calendar into AdvanceCM.

This guide walks you through both steps to ensure availability is synced across platforms.

Export AdvanceCM Calendar to Homeway/VRBO

In AdvanceCM:

1. Navigate to the Channels module from the top menu bar.

   

2. In the Channels List view, click the + Add Channel button.

   

3. In the Channels Overlay, click the iCal tab, select Homeaway, and click Connect.

   

4. In the Exported Calendars section, click Add.

   

5. Select the Rental from which you're exporting the calendar.

6. Click Export.

   

7. In the popup, copy the iCal URL provided.

   

8. Click Done.

In Homeaway:

1. Log into your Homeaway (VRBO) account.

2. Go to My Properties > Calendars > Reservations (via the left-hand navigation).

   

3. In the Reservations Calendar, scroll to the Import/Export section.

   

4. Click Import Calendar.

   

5. In the popup:

   • Give the calendar a name (e.g., “AdvanceCM”).

   • Paste the iCal URL copied from AdvanceCM.

6. Click Import Calendar.

   

Your Homeaway calendar is now receiving events from your AdvanceCM rental!

Next, import your Homeaway calendar into AdvanceCM.

Import Homeaway/VRBO Calendar into AdvanceCM

In Homeaway:

1. On the same Reservations Calendar page, go to Import/Export and choose Export Calendar.

   

2. Copy the iCal URL that is provided.

   

In AdvanceCM:

1. In the same Homeaway iCal channel page, scroll to the Imported Calendars section.

2. Click Add.

   

3. Complete the required information:

   

   • Calendar Name: Enter a name (e.g., “Homeaway VRBO”).

   • Rental: Select the rental to associate with the calendar.

   • Calendar URL: Paste the iCal URL copied from Homeaway.

4. Click Import.

Your AdvanceCM calendar is now updated with events from Homeaway!

Verifying Two-Way Connection

You can confirm two-way sync is active by viewing the Homeaway channel on your AdvanceCM Channels page. Rentals with both Exported and Imported tags "Active" indicate full two-way synchronization.

Repeat this process for each of your rentals.

What to Expect Next

• AdvanceCM will import all Homeaway/VRBO bookings and blocked dates.

• Imported events will appear as Hold Events in AdvanceCM.

• Since iCal sync is limited to calendar data, rates must be managed directly in Homeaway.

• To convert Hold Events into full bookings in AdvanceCM, click the event in your calendar and select Convert.
