Understanding the differences between Parent-Child and Multi-Unit rental relationships in AdvanceCM is essential for managing your properties efficiently. While both structures help organize and streamline rental management, they function differently in terms of rates, bookings, availability, and rental settings.
This guide outlines the key distinctions between the two, helping you determine which setup best suits your needs.
Rates
In a Parent-Child rental relationship, rate creation is available for both parent and child rentals. However, in a Multi-Unit rental relationship, rates can only be created for the main unit rental.
In a Parent-Child rental relationship, rate updates (push) occur separately for each rental. In contrast, in a Multi-Unit rental relationship, only the main unit rental can push rates.
Bookings/Hold Events creation
In a Parent-Child relationship, bookings created on the parent rental automatically generate hold events on all child rentals. This functionality is not present in a Multi-Unit rental relationship.
In a Multi-Unit rental relationship, bookings are assigned exclusively to sub-units. However, in a Parent-Child relationship, bookings can be assigned to either the parent or child rentals without restrictions.
In a Multi-Unit rental relationship, bookings are assigned to sub-units based on a priority rule. In contrast, a Parent-Child relationship has no such assignment rule.
Rentals
In a Parent-Child relationship, both parent and child rentals all fields in the Rentals module can be edited. However, in a Multi-Unit rental relationship, sub-units have limited editing capabilities, as most information is inherited from the main unit.
Availability push
In a Parent-Child relationship, availability updates (push) function normally for each individual rental. In a Multi-Unit relationship, the system pushes the total count of available sub-units. If all sub-units are booked, the main unit is automatically blocked on all connected channels.
